Lanaudière celebrates Black History Month: an invitation to all for rich and inspiring programming

The Table de l’Histoire des Noirs de Lanaudière is proud to announce that the municipal council of Saint-Cuthbert unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the activities organized for Black History Month. This decision, made at the council meeting of December 2, 2024, reflects a collective commitment to celebrating diversity and recognizing the positive impact of Black communities in our region.

Under the theme “Let’s celebrate Black culture, let’s imagine the future together”, the activities planned from February 1 to 28, 2025 promise to captivate and inspire participants. Rich and varied programming will include:

  • Talks by experts on topics related to the history, culture and future of Black communities.
  • Art exhibitions showcasing works by local and international artists.
  • Live shows celebrating music, dance and theatre.
  • Interactive educational workshops designed to engage and inform participants of all ages.

The Table’s coordinator, Pierre Richard Thomas, expressed his deep satisfaction with this support: “The resolution adopted by the Saint-Cuthbert municipal council is an important recognition of the heritage and contributions of Black communities. We are happy to work with municipalities to build an even more inclusive and united society.”

The assistant coordinator, Fatou Ndeye, shares this enthusiasm: “This support encourages us to keep offering quality events that bring people together and enrich our community. We invite all residents to join us and make this celebration a success.”

The municipality of Saint-Cuthbert also highlighted the importance of this mobilization by encouraging residents to take an active part in the events — by organizing local cultural activities, attending talks or promoting the events at municipal meetings.

An invitation to the people of Lanaudière

In this spirit of collaboration and celebration, the Table invites everyone in the region to take part in the activities planned for Black History Month. These events are not only a chance to have fun, but also an opportunity to discover, learn and connect with members of our community.

Together, let’s celebrate the richness of our multiculturalism and imagine a future where diversity is a source of inspiration and prosperity for all.
